We recently bought 15 chickens from a hatchery and had them all sexed for hens. They are 10 weeks old today and all look the same. My question is, if there were any roosters in the mix, would we see telltale signs of them? I’ve been trying to differentiate between them to see if any of them have a comb or wattle that is more distinguished then the rest but nothing really stands out. All the chickens vary slightly in color but there isn’t anything drastic for me to feel confident in saying that’s a rooster. I’ve seen other posts on here of a rooster at 5 or 6 weeks and it was very obvious but I don’t see any signs of that here. Short of calling for a line up to take pictures of each one, is there anything I could be missing that I can look for here? I want to believe we have 15 of 15 hens, but I don’t want to believe it!

Here's a pic I found on the web. The cockerels have double barring, so they are whiter than the pullets. If yours are all basically the same color, then you got what you ordered. :)

Thank you! So there are two that are noticeably darker than the rest, but not by much and everything else about them looks the same as the other 13. I can’t imagine with their 90% guarantee that we would only have two hens out of the group! There is also one that is a bit lighter but again not drastically and every other feature about it looks the same as the others. The picture you sent shows a noticeable difference in the comb, wattle and barring but we don’t have that.

I think the reason why I started this thread because I feel like we either have 15 hens or 15 roosters!! Haha I just need some reinforcement here that what I’m seeing is right.

I have not read all the post you may have entered but I am curious where did you get your chicks, I ask because I got 12 in total from Tractor supply but I am not sure of the 90% you speak of.

I have two Barred Rock pullets and one of them has darker barring than the other. Barred Rocks are auto sexing, you can tell the pullets from the cockerels at hatch by their color/head spots. At 10 weeks any rooster should be pretty obvious, if any of them have significantly bigger combs/wattles than the others and look way lighter that would be one to worry about. Hatchery's give the 90% guarantee when they vent sex chicks, or they have auto sexing breeds.

We ordered our chicks from Meyers Hatchery. They guarantee 90% accuracy with their sexed chicks. I don’t want to speak too soon, but our 11 week old chicks appear to be 100% hens, which is what we ordered.
