I was surprised to have pre-orders for NNs this year. I won't hatch them other than to order because I find them hard to sell. I love them. They crack me up, and are fantastic layers and great in both the cold and the heat.I love my nekked necks! They're just crosses from hatchery stock, nothing fancy. I had a red one that when crossed to my splash Giant cock bird threw me blues every time. And I love the blues in any breed or hybrid!
SEVEN extra pens! I'm green!
It's going to take them a while to settle down. Whenever I go in the pens they spaz out. I need latches INSIDE the pens so I can lock myself in and they don't escape while I feed and water.
Here are the breeding pens when they were first built. They now have roosts and nesting boxes.
This one here is now my Barred Plymouth Rock pen. I have a nesting box and two big roosts. No heatlamp..
Using this for my silkie breeding. Biggest one I have.
Using these top ones now for MY breeding. It's sectioned off into 3 pens for pairs. 3 feet by 4 feet each.
I have my pair of Buckeyes, my white EE pair, and my best Barred Rock pair for those pens. The bottom still has silkies in it I have to move out for chicks.
We are having a heat wave, so it's the perfect time to acclimate them.
I am so ready for spring!
