Plymouth Rock thread!

Okay so here are some different angles and different birds. Contender #1 Could you give us the "why's" of each choice? Why #1 over #2, #2 over #3? Both positives, and what you'll be trying to correct. colburg

I just numbered them. No specific order to it. I am not sure which will turn out to be my #1 pick, but those are 3 contenders that I am going to keep a while yet to let them grow out.
I am certainly no expert.....but my choice (by far) of the 3 Barred Rock contenders you have is #3 (the banded one).....he has it ALL going on

He's nice and wide from front to back. That we can see and that's a good thing.

Without a better "stand up" pose, it is really hard to judge his front, top line or bottom line, sorry. I know sometimes how hard it is to get the shots you want.
Ok, thank you. I will work on getting better pictures. And I have a half dollar that I can take out with me to compare his head to.

Well I forgot why I banded him, but there must have been a reason :) Glad I wasn't crazy to band him. ;) I only banded two. I haven't shown the other one in a while. He does not like to be photographed, but I love his size.. and his barring.. plus he already has tail and he's younger than any of the other birds posted.

Here is a cockerel from 2013 hatch that I am planning to breed to his mother and an aunt in Dec. I think he is quite an improvement over my first Columbian Rock cockbird and a pretty good improvement over his sire

I like his WIDE chest, long back, (in Fred's words) FREAK Big Head, wide leg stance. Still a little too loosely feathered, color needs work and praying that tail finishes.

Any thoughts?
