Plymouth Rock thread!

I put a game camera out and have gotten pictures/video of foxes, skunks, owls, coyote, and a bobcat. For the most part we have put traps out and caught the predators that have killed our chicken. I shot at a coyote that had killed several of my birds and was chasing a pullet through our back yard. I'm pretty sure I hit him but only had bird shot in my gun. He has come back but I haven't gotten him yet. We have many acres around us but they go after the chickens for an easy meal. I have come across a den a few years back on the back 40.

I posted a picture of the Fox we saved in our front yard and turned over to Animal Control if you want to see her. She was beautiful. Who knows how long she's been on my property. What does a Fox Den look like? I also found a very large mound of well constructed branches and even soda cans under my oak bushes on the hill. I can't figure out what might have been living there at one time. So well crafted like a woven basket and something can hide in it. My Hens like to lay up there in that dirt and bathe and have even layed eggs there. One even carried a ceramic egg I used in their coop..carried it all the way up the hill and put it there. Crazy, huh?

see the white egg, it's a ceramic easter egg...someone carried it all the way up the hill and put it in the dirt..LOL

I wondered if it wasn't a Hawk. I have a pair that lurk and my hens run and hide. This time what ever got Betty didn't even leave a feather. Just up and disappeared..:(

Thank you. I do love those hens. They'll be 3 years old April, except for Druscilla, who is about a year old. The one in the first picture is big Ida. The picture of the three together are Druscilla, Wynette and Dottie, who is Dru's mother.

I do set traps both live traps and leg traps. I do have electric around all of my pens now but a coyote was jumping over my 5' fence and an owl was actually going into a coop. I have blood on the inside where the chickens and owl fought. Most of the predators I do catch, then I don't loose any birds for a long while until they get discovered again and more predators move in, then it starts all over and I set out the traps.
