My Horstman line cockerels tail has been filling in very sporadic here lately, so this morning I decided to pull his main tail feathers out in hopes that over the next couple months it will come in more even and look much nicer. Here are a few pictures of what he looks like now.

lol, yes I'm sure he was thinking "what just happen here".

Here is a picture of his tail last week showing how his Main Tail feathers was making his tail look out of balance.

I just took in a friends barred rock today. They aren't supposed to have chickens and she was their last one. She got out and was wandering the neighborhood so they put up posters with their info to get her back. Someone saw the flyers, and called the city complaining about the chickens. So when they found their chicken again, they brought her to us. She loves people and is the coolest chicken. Her name is Sarah. It's dark here now, so I'll post a picture of her tomorrow.

I made some plans on what was going to be moved and sold over the next few weeks. If all that falls in place I will have 4 breeding pens freed up and I can move my Partridge and SPPR to get them going.

The move of the pullets yesterday didn't stop them from laying. I got 4 eggs from 4 pullets...... let the hatching begin!!!!

Great news congrats, I am going to need more eggs.

I've seen their ads. Don't know who it is, but you might want to ask what they are vaccinated for. I just hate when someone says their flock is "vaccinated" then never says for what. That can make a difference and if it's one of those types that makes your birds carriers of the disease, you don't want that. The rooster pictured is a fairly typical hatchery BR male.

That's hatchery stock, not bred to the Standard birds, if the photo is representative. Honestly, if one wants hatchery stock, They are available at great prices and certified health direct from the hatcheries or re-sold through the chain feed stores.

I suppose it is fun to hatch out eggs, but one could get high quality birds, it would seem to me, for that price. Just an observation, for what it is worth.
