I noticed there isn't a HUGE plymouth rock thread like EE Braggers or Marans, so I want to start one and make it almost as big, if I can!
To start, I'll talk about my plymouth rocks. I got two plymouth rocks in the May of 2011, and they are wonderful! When I got them, one was significantly smaller, and so everyone used that for distinguishing them. Now, they are about the same size, and I am the person best at telling them apart. Everyone else guesses. Mine are barred rocks. When they were young, the little one was "You," and the big one was "Ostrich". Now You and Ostrich are about the same size. Ostrich was named for stretching her neck so it was really tall, and reminded me of an ostrich. Like dogs, my barred rocks sure know how to beg. Recently they have learned to jump on your armwrest when we are eating outside. When you shoo them, they jump on your arm. Obviously, they are friendly. Mine are very sweet.
I am aware this is an exceedingly long post because of lots of words and pictures. Please don't click away because of it! Post your own stories of Plymouth Rocks!

Ostrich and You getting grapes. Ostrich is the one with her head tilted. You is the one on the left.

This is either you or ostrich

Ostrich and You. Ostrich, again, is on the right.

Ostrich and You. The white thing is either my Buff Rock or my dead leghorn who was still alive at the time of the picture.

Ostrich and Pee. Pee is my buff rock.
You. I know, bad picture! They just move around too much!

You and Ostrich by our grapes! They love eating both the leaves and fruit. Ostrich is on the left. There's where she got her name from. Stretching her neck like that!

This is either you or ostrich. Have you got a treat? Maybe in your pocket?

Snow and I think that is You?......

We have straw on some areas, which has seeds in it that they love and they love digging in it. However, some of the artichoke plants we put in that area don't really appreciate it. This is Pee and I can't tell who the other is from the picture...
Post your pictures and stories about your plymouth rock!!!! In my next post on here, I will put pictures of my hens when they were chicks, I think... Has anyone else noticed that in many of the pictures in the Breeds section of BYC, in the background of many of the pictures, there is a Plymouth Rock?
