I am relatively new to BYC and have yet to introduce myself.
I have a shy 3 acres about 1 hr north of Seattle, WA with a good sized barn. The barn is equipped with a good sized indoor/outdoor coop, but we let our birds free range as much as possible.

Growing up my parents had 10 acres and we had Pekin and Blue Swede ducks. At one point the flock was up to 28 and we started with 3 birds lol. The birds were mostly pets, but we did enjoy the eggs come spring time.

Right now my flock has:
1 Khaki Campbell Drake
1 Muscovy
1 Pekin

1 California White roo
1 Cuckoo Maran roo
1 RIR
1 Ameraucana
1 California white
2 Barred rocks
2 Silver Laced Wyandottes
2 Wellsummers
1 Silkie Mix


Main purpose of our flock is for eggs, but we have eaten a couple birds after having behavioral issues. I have a 2 yr old daughter who adores the birds and all our animals.

I am considering some hobby breeds now too, something with some awesome colorings and hair do's. Maybe some silkies, frizzle, polish or otherwise interesting looking ladies.
We also have 2 barn cats, 3 goats, and 2 dogs.

Maybe you guys could suggest some fun breeds with some interesting plumage. I only have silkies, frizzle, and polish on my list of ones to research for consideration

Though I've never actually kept any of those breeds you listed, I've seen plenty of them and met people who do keep them. If you really want an interesting bird, go with the Frizzle! Or, you can get a Frizzled Polish and have both the strange feathers and the crest.

Welcome to the flock. You may want to check out "Showgirls," they are a variety of silkie that was produced by a turken x silkie cross. Same good traits of silkies (docile, good broodies etc.) but, with a more unusual look. Showgirls refers to both sexes.
