The stories of a life unfold
Through bitter battle with relentless foe
The struggles garnered find the passion
As we sit and look amid the ration
A bit, a piece, a memory
Guide the journey till we cease
Liberty, a freedom gained
By looking back at our remain
A toast, a cheer at recognition
Of the battle fought and heart transition
Still to see His face and sympathy
He bore our pain upon That Tree
The Cross of Calvary held in the face
Of relentless foe put in his place
A fiercer fight could not be found
Than the one held upon that ground
The Perseverant Savior, Relentless in His Love
Purchased for us our right to live, free, to look above
Our eyes cast up to seek His face
The ever present taste of Grace
No changing, no fading, no turning in Thee
As we cast our heavy burden from bended knee
You loved us once, You loved us twice
You loved us when You gave the bride price
You loved us once before the fall
You loved again in spite of all
You loved us as the curtain tore
You loved us with abandon glee as You declared our dignity
Now claimed and washed, freely forgiven
We stand in awe of all You've hidden
Promised, yes, You really will
Unfold your knowledge waiting till
The Bride of Christ, clothed is She, wrapped in perfect unity
We appear with You, part of Your glory
We appear with You, part of Your story.

Shame has a price that must be paid
The silent faint upon that day
Shame is relentless in its sting
It wearies and weakens both you and me
Shame cannot live within the breast
For the cost is steep and it causes death
To speak the words that must be heard
Turn the ground lest they stay fallow
To carry by ones own strength
Is a torturous, traitorous feat
Yet many the few who let love through
Love, that willing act;
To seek the peace amid the rack
Personal injury, broken hearted
Extend a hand and love imparted
Lifting up from off the brow
The stain of grief and sorrow now
Committed to love no matter the cost
Valiantly willing to stay the cross
Choosing to "go the Way of the Lamb"
Removes the boy from the man
Eyes set upon the goal, a vision, a dream
Worth every price, yes pain and grief
The Victor stands beside the loved
No glory vaunted as His eyes
Meet the eyes of the one released.

Lessons learned while processing life...
A man can be innocent and kind,
But all that will change
When a good man goes to war.
He may have left a lover
But fear and dismay will change him
as they fall upon his shoulders
When a good man goes to war.
The heartbreak, the anxiety and scarring
Of two men on the battle field
Battling to the death
When a good man goes to war.
The pain
The fear
The love
Will all leave
When a good man goes to war.
War will change a man,
Though he may pretend it has not
Behind that makeup is something different
He has seen and done too much
When the good man went to war
The love, the light that once shone so bright
Has all faded into darkness
The tears have run dry
And can run no more
No more
