INSANITY

by Gabriel Mendoza

I get up from sleep and get ready for work
I drive in my truck, along with the lunch, a spoon and fork
I do this every day, I feel so berserk
My hands ache, my usual knee jerk
A person walks by and I smile with a smirk

When the bell tolls, I drive home in haste
Onto the interstate from the road I just raced
Where is my cell phone that I must have misplaced?
My dinner, I’m hungry, I’m longing to taste
And the loved ones at home whom I will have embraced

Time to go to bed, time seems to short
Enough of this rhyming, enough of this sort
To my dreams, onward and transport
Let’s see which one the devil will import
As he leaves I will give him a cursing retort

This is it my friends, my final analogy
This isn’t real, but it’s my reality
This is the root, the dirt, the seed of my duality
I can’t have this anymore, the fulfillment of my capacity
This is madness, in its totality

No it’s not madness, as you see I do the same things,
And expect different results,
The mere definition of INSANITY

Friendship

I long to have friend a to trust,
a friend that is loyal and just.
One that I can teach to climb,
a big, thick cypress vine.
I saw a boy at school,
he looked pretty cool.
We became good friends,
and played ‘till the day ends.

Lost Hen, Symphony.

By: Teresa Rose

Oh Symphony, where could you be?
Please! Stop playing tricks on me!
I love you so, sweet Symphony.
More than you'll ever know!
Come back to me. For this love is true.
Oh the pain I have! Why must it be this way?
But around the corner, my joy flows to you.
Now I'll hug you, till our last day!

Unwanted Dog

by Gabriel Mendoza

You found me one day from out of the blue it seems
I was so excited that you loved someone like me
Once kicked and abused and beaten by a cruel master
You brought me in and gave me warmth
You hugged and cuddled with me
You held me in your warm arms at night as we snuggled
And said you will always be there

Then one day you brought home someone else
Then another a few years later
You paid full attention to them and less to me
Until I was left out in the backyard

My heart howls at night wanting to come back in
I yelp and cry, I scratch at your door
And stay by it in a ball when it rains
But it never opens
And I never stay dry
From the downpour of heartfelt tears on my face

Now the time is final it seems
That all hope is lost for me
I have wounds that I chewed on me
so that I could tell if I was in a nightmare
I am so smelly without your love
I have fleas and worms
And feel sick without you

I see the house is now empty
And I am alone in the backyard of your love
I am dusty and full of mats
From the neglect
Oh God please help me!
Let her look upon me and remember me
Let her clean me and cuddle with me
Let her cleanse and put salve on my eyes
Please let her groom me once again
And I will curl in a ball and cuddle with her again

But now I’m in this cold doghouse
And the house is empty
And she’s moved on without me
So I will curl up inside of this cold box
And not be loved
And not be wanted

And sleep until she wants me again…
