Point of a chick n swing and how often do they use it

Just created my first chicken swing.I am just curious of why people use these,is the rocking soothing to the chicken?And how often do your chickens use them?

curious my self of all the people I know that have chickens only one has a swing

My chickens use it everyday when they are in the run. There are often two to three on at a time. It is made from redwood branches from our trees. They started using a smaller one in their brooder when they were only three weeks old.

I put one in the run, and it was never used by any of my birds. They just laughed at me!

Supposedly some chickens like it, I had a baby roo that used one but mostly he liked to jump on and off it so it would smack loudly against the wall over and over.

It was extremely annoying. At first it was once every few hours - *thunk*. Then as he got older, the frequency and the force used went up. *Thunk!* *Thunk!*

Did I learn my lesson? Not quite. Going to install a swing out in the run soon and see if any of my hens want to use it.

2 of my chickens use their swing everyday, usually in the afternoon. They definitely seem to like the motion because they also have stationary perches but they choose their swing.
