Hi everyone! Hoping someone can tell me if my pullets seem close to laying based on the color of their combs and wattles? They’re 17 weeks. I never knew how impatient I was until I started waiting for eggs… I feel like a kid waiting on Christmas!

Patience. My gut instinct is that you have several more weeks before first eggs. Your birds are not high production early layers. The good thing is that generally they have a longer productive life than those birds.

Well that is a bright side! Are you thinking another month or more?

I did a fun math project with my class. I had the kiddos use one guess; I gave them choices of 5 days. I used the guesses to make a line plot. I had 7 pullets, so we did that many times. It made it fun for them and helped me with my patience. The last one we did was for my Favaucana Tess. We did it and I included that day. Some of the students chose that day. Sure, enough I went home, and she laid the egg.
