I made a moveable tractor that I will be putting a bunch of my chickens in to move into an area that I cleared of puckerbrush last summer. I figure I will have a healthy lawn in that area by September. The problem is that there is poison ivy scattered around in that area. Will it affect my chickens adversely, or at all? I know they'll root out everything in their path, but I don't want to hurt them. Opinions? Suggestions?

Mine free range and have access to the poison ivy in the woods.

On the other hand, chickens will eat styrofoam, the insides of sheet rock, and lots of other stuff that is not food.

Do not know whether they would eat poison ivy in a tractor.

i dont know about them eating it...but i do know you wont want to touch those birds...lol..many a person has caught poison ivy from their dog or kids clothes after they romp in the woods.. so i assume the same would apply to the birds..if they come in contact with it..

I have poison ivy coming through my fence (why is that plant so hard to kill?) and the chickens seem to eat it preferentially. It doesn't last long and doesn't seem to harm the birds.

Talk about a money making venture.....renting out your chickens to eat poison ivy!
