HAs anyone ever tried to poison starlings? My peacocks and pheasants don't free range but their barn is infested with starlings. I was thinking of placing a container of feed/rat poison in the barn so the starlings could feast on it. Wonder if anyone has tried this technique?

Have to relocate your birds first, but you could try corn soaked in antifreeze. Or, put it down outside of their run, all around it. Use a dozen or so small piles so that you can get it all up later.

I would want too as well, but it is hard to keep the poison from non-target animals.Like you could poison the bird, but what about the animal that eats the bird?

Is a trap an option? I wrote about the repeating house sparrow trap I got from a guy named Blaine from TX.It can work for starlings to:hmmnce you trap you can kill them with some exahaust fumes or fumes from.....I think I read some sort of lighter fluid dropped in the bag.Or you can donate the birds to a local wildlife sanctuary that will feed them to meat eating animals.

Make a V-trap. Here's mine:

This is what the frame looks like when it's put together.

Here it is with plastic fencing on it. If I were doing it over, I'd've used 1/2-inch hardware cloth instead.

Here's the entrance area. Note the panel above to block their view of the sky from inside.

Interesting! I can't seem to figure out how it works though? I get that the birds go in and can't get out, but why would they go in?

Check applicable state laws before intentionally poisoning any wildlife. I know Wisconsin, where I live, severely restricts and in many cases prohibits the use of poison. And if poison is used improperly you could be liable in civil court for damages (for example, if your neighbor's dog was injured or killed by poison you set out illegally or negligently, you might be liable to your neighbor).

It's safer for you, to use use traps, firearms (where permitted) or air rifles.
