so I bought 2 polish day old chicks - sexed female in April. One has been laying for a month. This one tidbits. Doesn't get mated by the cockerel it's in with. And has what looks to be spurs growing in. I have 2 marans Roos so no room for another male. I advertise it as a cockeral on the local fb page to be told it's a pullet by a few ppl. Really? I mean I'm not totally clueless and this one behaves like a boy. It calls everyone to treats. Polish aren't my breeding focus - I just wanted white eggs so maybe I'm off here? I gave it a haircut so it could see so the poofy thing isn't very reliable. Before I cut its hair it did look kinda wild.

And before you ask if it's crowing - it don't dare. It's the size of a pigeon and in with a huuuge marans roo. With another marans roo in the coop beside it. My man would love someone to say it's a pullet but I have little faith

Females can grow spurs but they won’t be as big as the males. Roosters can have favourite hens and will mate with them more than the others. some pullets lay later than others as well so keep an eye out for an egg.
It could be a rooster or a hen, I am not sure. I am more pointing towards a hen but I am interested in seeing the outcome.
Hope this helps:)

Best
I don’t see any male feathers. Looks like a pullet to me too.
Before the haircut was it’s head feathers round or did it have rock star hair?
it always had a weird hair do compared to its sister I got it with. Flat top I called it. Best I could do is this pic from when it was about 5 wks.

Thanks for the words of encouragement. This chick is in a coop with the cockerel, 1 pullet that is laying, and a broody raising her 4 pullets -which no one dares mess with. So basically that cockerel has 1 laying hen and this thing. That is growing spurs before laying. I've never seen that. I've only been raising chickens for 3 yrs now and on a smaller scale so I do have a lot to learn. But really - it tidbits. And my man said he heard some strange predator by the coop about a month ago. I go out and it's this thing making odd noises.
