My 14 week old pullet named Pinecone is experiencing (I think) a vitamin B deficiency. She is just standing/sitting, and scoots backwards when trying to move. I’ve given her some vitamin b super complex and she’s had some water and some mashed feed. She’s on medicated chick starter feed.

Questions
1. Does this sound like a vitamin B deficiency?
2. Are Polish more likely to suffer vitamin B deficiencies? Should I give them vitamin B more regularly? This isn’t the first time I’ve treated my Polish birds for this.

Thanks so much!!

Is she able to see well?

Sometimes they need trimming around the eyes, make sure she's seeing o.k.

Scooting backwards could be neurological.

I'd give her 400IU Vitamin E and 1/4tablet B-Complex daily along with a little egg for the uptake of E.

I see you have her separated in a box. Is she not able to move about enough to be with the flock? Can she get up and eat/drink on her own?

Polish have a vaulted skull so can sometimes be more prone to neurological issues. So she may need extra vitamins from time to time.
