This weekend is my first ever incubator hatch. I've normally hatched under a broody Silkie, but this is fascinating. I thought I'd share the progress of these four little chickies.

Being a chick is tiring.....

Two chicks have a ginger eye-stripe which the others don't. Is this a colour variance or perhaps different sexes? The chick at front has no stripe...same colour. The other has a ginger strip that goes around its head.

They're really cute! Congrats!

Probably just a different color pattern. Might not even make a difference in the adults coloration. I'm not sure though, I've never had Polish chicks before.

Hopefully you're right! They're hatching eggs from online and they did say 'mixed'. Fingers crossed for as many hens as possible as we're urban so might need to rehome loud roosters; that's the only problem with hatching out.

Little update; they're growing FAST! I had to despatch the second barbu d'anver as its legs didn't get better, but its sibling is doing very well.

Thanks, Gita. Me too....would've been great to have another. I'm already obsessed with these little guys. I'm going to have to get some more Polish and Barbu d'anver eggs in from different breeding stock so I can build my flock!

Little update on the chicks. They're 8/9 days old now and going strong. Their brooder's next to my desk....do you think I get ANY work done? Not likely with these cuties around.
