i have a chiick with a crooked beak and another one looks like its doing the same. what coullld cause this?

Crooked beak is almost always a genetic issue. If it's not too bad, you might be able to reshape the beak with rubber bands and splints.

how does that work? how do i use the rubber bands and splints to fix it? it would be nice to fix it.

I've never actually done this, but people tell me it works. I'd imagine it'd be like chicken braces. Wrap a tight rubber band around their beaks for a few hours each day. Take them off so they can eat. My vet would know the answer. You can call her if you like. Her number is (530) 621-4171 and her name is Dr. Jean Smith. She's an avain specialist and seems to know all the odd treatments. She's in California, so she might be in a different time zone than you. Also, some birds tend to straighten out with age if the bend isn't severe. I had a pullet who started off with a pretty bad twist and when she matured her beak was pretty much straight.

search for scissor beak, lots of discussion on it. trauma or genetic cause. no easy fix, and unlikely the bird(s) will ever be normal. most do not get appropriate care and monitoring and do not get enough to eat, are stunted and end up sadly starving to death around 6-12months as the problem gets more and more severe. you can try to correct it, but if you cannot commit to weekly checks on crop and weight, as well as probably weekly to every two weeks beak checks and dremmeling- culling would be the kind thing to do.
