I am getting polish chickens to show. Is there special things I need to know about caring for them and showing them?

Hiwany eggs do polish lay a year?If you get them as chicks, be careful that the other chicks or hens don't peck them in the head too much. Since they are crested, they have a soft spot on the top of their head, and too much pecking can lead to brain damage.
In my opinion, they are not the brightest birds overall, probably because mine were pecked in the head a bit too much. Also, sometimes their crests obscure their vision and they are easily lost of confused.
They definitely need extra protection from predators, and I would not recommend letting them free-range unsupervised. Also, they tend to get picked on by other chickens because they look different. I've also found that my Polish hens are very clingy with the other hens, which the other hens find very annoying, and then chase away or bite the Polish ones.
They're not hard to keep, all mine laid plenty of eggs, and they're a nice breed overall. They are often very friendly with people, too.
Good luck!
Good to know. ThanksI'm not sure how many per year, but mine probably lays about 5 a week, especially when the weather is nice.
