Polish Chicken Beak

Hi Everyone,

We have a 11 month old Polish chicken and we have noticed some bleeding from the beak a few weeks ago. We cleaned it and now there seems to be a hole in the beak, as you can see in the pictures. Can anyone please help out ?

She is eating and sleeping well, she hasn't started laying yet.

Is her other nostril open on the right side? She may have injured the beak on wire fencing, a feeder, or some other accident. Nostrils can become clogged with secretions, feed, and dirt, which can turn to a concrete consistency. I would try some drops of hydrogen peroxide and wooden toothpicks to try and soften any secretions. Be careful not to cause more damage. Does the beak seem fractured or dislocated? Is she able to eat and drink normally, or has she lost weight? Beaks that have cracked or been fractured can be repaired with pieces of an empty teabag and superglue. A vet may be of help.

Yes her other nostril is clear, she is eating and drinking well and she hasn't lost weight. It started as a small lump and it has gradually got bigger. We have wiped it with hydrogen peroxide so I am think we will continue to do that.
