My farm store has recently changed to a new hatchery, and are getting in different breeds then normal this coming April. Golden Laced and White Crested Polish are now on that list of new breeds!
However, I live in Maine. I heard they do not fair well with Maine's harsh winters, and ice will form on their crests. Is this true? It's the only thing that is deterring us from getting any.

I've never had any problems with them, and I haven't heard of friends with any problems with them... Of course, the last time I had any Polish was back about 8 years, so I might be a bit foggy on that fact.

I've had two Polishes in Colorado and they have had no problems with the cold. I still have one that's 6 years old! They are one of my favorites for looks and attitude!

Maine gets colder than Colorado but I think they'll be just fine.
