This is Sprite, my Polish Sizzle cockerel. He has yet to show any aggression but as you can see, I have yet to trim the feathers around his eyes. Sounds a bit mean, but should I intentionally keep the feathers a little longer to hinder his vision during potential attacks?! Or am I thinking about this wrong?

He is likely a mix not full polish and that is a small crest!!!! You should see my polish frizzle. She cannot see hardly at all unless I trim it because it grows forwards instead of back.

It isn't hindering his sight as much as you think there. And you are probably overthinking it too in terms of aggression! If anything, poor sight will make him more nervous, and a scared roo can be aggressive.

He is handsome though, whatever he is.

fwiw my guess is that he is part Silkie. The walnut comb and feathered feet, muffs and soft feathering. Polish have clean feet, v combs and much bigger crests.

greaf to know!! Thank you.

I’d love to see yours! Yes, I believe the “sizzle” is silkie/frizzle cross. He’s smooth feathered. Or so I’m told lol

if you look up smooth sizzle he does look similar. And he looks polish silkie too. Not sure! That’s just what I was told... and who wouldn’t add “sizzle” to the end to make him appear “fancy” :barnie

I found this from a later thread. He looks similar. But His feathered feet are definitely different. I don’t know much about breeds if you can’t tell Lol

A sizzle has frizzle and silkie feathering. So, they are furry and stick out the wrong way!

He certainly looks like a Polish Silkie mix. And very fancy! I hope mine turn out that good looking 🙂
