Polish crested pecked head-any solutions?

I have two polish crested chickens in my new flock of 33. One hen, and one roo. The roo is black w a white head, and the other chickens have pecked a bald spot on him. He gets frantic when seperated from the rest, and bent the wire of his cage, trying to get out. The hen has had no problems--she's tan and black with a black head, and I'm hoping if I can just get his bald spot to grow back, the others will leave him alone too. Is there something I can put on his head to discourage the pecking? Vaseline, or something? Any advice is appreciated! TIA!

The best thing is to trim his feathers back from around his eyes so he can see. This will prevent others from pecking him because he can see them coming and get out of the way.
Is the picked spot bleeding or is it just picked clean of feathers?

I had the same problem. Had to give them to someone who also had polish hens. They are too different from the others are are picked on constantly. I'm sorry. One other thing you could do is make them their own coop and run.

Occasionally it will have a few specks of blood, but it's mostly just picked clean. We added oats to their feed, as we heard that makes them not cannabilistic, and we watch him very closely--check him a few times a day.

One other thing you could do is make them their own coop and run.

We may end up doing this--we have room to expand, and the two are really sweet--especially him for a roo, even though he is still young. We heard after we got them about all the special problems the breed has, from being so different.
