Polish, houdans, sultans, and various bantam breeds

By the way this Silkie has a single comb instead of a walnut comb

A single comb should never pop up in good quality Silkie stock. I generally see single combs in TSC Silkie stock.
Ya I don’t know how that works. I’m pretty new to silkies, but I just checked out of the 20 I have left, only two have the single comb including the one I took a picture of earlier. I assume that would be culled out if the breeder was breeding for long enough.

I went from having 5 chickens after a few fox attacks to having over 400 birds including all the chicks and ducklings. Only 50 or so are adult hens. I decided instead of giving up like everyone in this area and even the person that lived in the house before us that I was going to get into the chicken thing 100%... perhaps start a slower paced lifestyle for ourselves eventually so I had to start with stock from other people, but I usually get it from NPIP certified people which doesn’t mean a whole lot, but also from people that I can actually check out the adult birds that they have if possible.

Not true, a single comb can pop up on the rare occasion especially breeding two quality birds that have had those genetics in their background. It’s similar to getting four toes on one or both feet which can and does happen in quality breeding. Happens a little more often with the toes than it does the comb. I bought some chicks from Amberwaves in CA and they breed beautiful birds. One ended up with a partial single comb.
