I've been losing my red sexlink chickens to old age lately and want to order some new chicks since I've got a few broody silkies. I'm curious on mixing polish into my flock. I had an awful time with my first silkies, but ended up getting another 5 silkies so they've all done fine. Currently I have 6 silkies/satin, 1 barred rock and 2 isa browns left.

I'd like to add
3 salmon faverolles
3 easter egger
3 polish

Ordering from meyer so I know some may be roos which is why I did 3 of each. I have an 8x10 coop and 12x12 run but they free range on the property.

Do you think these chicks will fit in ok? Are polish ok in cold weather? A lot of snow and negative temps here, silkies do fine. Will they be picked on? My 2 isa's are mean but also pretty old. Thanks for any insight!

That should be fine. all the breeds you mentioned tend to be good in colder environments. The biggest issue with polish that I have heard is that they sometimes get their crests wet when they go to drink out of bowls but it is easy to combat by trimming their crests a bit in winter. The run is very small for that amount of chickens but since you free range it shouldn't be much of a problem.

It sounds like you plan on having a broody raise them? I am going to assume that the isa browns shouldn't be too big of a deal as the broody should keep them away from the chicks. And the chicks should fit in perfectly fine.
