Did you get them all at the same time? They really are different! I would *think* that maybe you have the starts of a rooster there (or someone using growth hormones on his hair

) They are all really pretty!!

I love the Frizzles!

I just got a Khaki Polish chick. She is a smooth, but the carries the frizzle gene, according to the breeder. We *think* she is a girl. Time will tell. :)She is very sweet. She will climb in my lap and up my arm.

The kids named her Foofy.

She is kind of dirty in this picture. Sorry. When I brought her home and put her in with new bedding, she got down and was giving herself the funniest dust bath. She was really getting into it, flopping and flapping her wings.

When do Polish roos start showing color in the comb/face and developing wattles? I have two polish chicks, both are between 8 - 10 weeks(if memory serves me right), one is showing absolutely no color, the other only has very slight color in some spots. One I am fairly certain is a pullet based on topknot feathering, the other, that is just now starting to show a little color has a different topknot(looser and slightly more pointed feathering) which makes me think roo - but he doesn't ever Act like a roo, no crowing yet, and only just now starting to show a little color. This is why I am wondering if Polish roos are much slower to develop than a typical roo??? I will try to get some photos when it finally stops raining(pouring actually). Thanks for all of the wise help!!!

Nevermind, I am pretty certain it is a roo now. Today when I moved his top hat back I saw growth in the comb whereas the other chick has no growth there whatsoever. So yeah, pretty certain I have a roo and pullet. Which is kinda cool - if I am able to hatch out some chicks. Though, my d'Uccle is top roo now, so maybe they would be d'Uccle x Polish crosses. Anyone ever see such a thing before? If so, any ideas(or pictures) as to what they look like?

I am going to guess roo. Sorry. I could be totally wrong, because it is more a vibe/hunch I am getting. Let us know how it turns out. My roo is over 8 weeks old and is just now starting to show some color - but I am sure he is a roo. I thought he was a 'he' from about a week of age based on how he held himself in photos - even though he was a little more shy than my girl. I am far from an expert though.

Them are some bad "crele" colored Polish.... There not even close to true Crele...
I would love to know what there trying to use because a true Crele is a BBR (Black Breasted Red) / Barred cross. The last I checked there was no BBR Polish.
The other cross is not a true Crele and is like there using with the Cochins and it is a Partridge/ Barred cross.. But I don't think there is a Partridge Polish, Is there?

Chris

Chris,
You are correct there are no true b.b. red Polish, just as there are no true crele Polish. Many of the crele Polish you see out there are poor specimens. What a crele Polish should look like is easiest to visualize by imagining a brown red but in a barred pattern. They "got out" into the public way before they were ready unfortunately. They were actually an outcropping from a project to make a solid buff cuckoo Polish. I know the guy who originated them so that's the story! Originally he used buff laced x wc cuckoos.

Here's an F1 cross between cuckoo and gold lace by an Australian breeder to show you the path the crele breeders should be persuing:

Yes ours is named Elvis, dont know what we would call it if it turns out to be a girl. What type of Polish is it? Do you know?

He is awefully cute. And that would explain why my other possible roo went after it when we introduced them.

thanks!
