Here is a pic of my SL at about 1 week

and a pic of the SL at about 3 weeks with the mohawk
80995_100_9693.jpg

and here are 2 of the GL at about 4 weeks...notice one has more of the mohawk and one has more covering all over the head..tried to get a face shot...but they kept turning and running everytime they saw the camera. My third GL looks the same as the mohawk one with a little more feathering on the neck and not so much fuzz

sorry...when I went back to read thread I noticed just the links to my photos showed up and the photos wont open unless you click on them. What is the trick to getting them to open without clicking on a link?

Hi! This quote came from eastercreek:

*One of my GL seems to have much more of a "top knot" than the other two....fuller I should say. The other two GL and the SL have more of a "mohawk" at this point. I got them too late to use the sexing indicator of looking at the shape of the "poof"*

I was wondering about the sexing by the poof, can this be done, like another, my young daughter is interested in a GL Polish. I would like it to be a female if possible. The chicks will be about 3 days old when we go to pick some out. Any advise would be GREAT! Thanks!

One of the members has posted some good sexing info on her website located here
http://www.swpoultry.com/CindySite/Welcome.html

However, I got mine at 1 and 2 weeks and was unable to use her method. I have read in numerous posts that roos typically have the mohawk "doo" going on and the females have more of the "boufont". Is this just a wives tale....or is there some reasoning to this? Hopefully it isnt scientifically correct because three of mine have very distinct mohawks and only one has a boufont.

Mine are hatchery stock (from Ideal)..and we are interested in them as pets, not show stock. However...3 roos would clearly be too much for our set up. I have told myself all along though, that if one of the Polish is a roo...I will keep it-but wasnt counting on 3 of the 4.
