Oh, that's awful. I'm sorry. I hope you find a chick or hen. You can also ease your pain with an incubator and eggs. That usually works for me.

I am a tad freaked out. One of the tolbunt chicks has an eye issue maybe? He is keeping one shut and there was some blood on him...maybe under his eye but definitely in his nostril. I can't see any damage but something is wrong. I put neosporin on him under his bottom eyelid but now am wondering should I start an antibiotic just in case? What kind? It would be one of the new babies! Probably 5 to 6 weeks old

Can you open his eye and look in? He could have gotten poked with something or someone could have pecked him. If you think it is his eyeball, You can use terramycin in his eye. I had a show rabbit that got poked in the eye with a piece of straw. It did quite a bit of damage, but I put that ointment in her eye every day, and it was almost good as new. Still couldnt show her though. You can get it just about anywhere. It is cheap too. I got an extra tube on ebay when I misplaced the one I got from the vet. Any vet would probably sell it to you as well.

I can see the eyeball there. I can't tell if there is any damage or not. I am wondering if a cat swiped its head. There is a small bloody spot on the other side too that I didn't see at first. I will get some and put it in the eye. I am giving it electrolytes and vitamins. There is no new blood. I will try to get a better look in a bit.

There is a lady here in Tennessee who is working on Tolbunts....the name she goes by is poultrylady. If you are looking for possibly new blood I know she does sell some eggs. May pay off to check with her to gain some new blood.

Not now. I e-mailed her this week. She unfortunately lost her rooster over the winter, so is apparently back to projects. She had no eggs for sale.

I'm still on the lookout.

I e-mailed her a couple weeks ago and she told me that she doesn't sell eggs b/c she needs them all to fill up her bators.

I would definitely PREFER not to breed any related birds together, but it is almost impossible to find these guys, related or not. Sigh. I will have to work with what I have for now and hopefully be able to outcross with the GL and go from there. I will definitely be on the lookout for anyone willing to share some eggs in the future. I've been contacting, begging, and stalking breeders of these birds for the last 2 years, so I think most people would consider me committed.

Oh no - two years? I've been on the hunt for six months, and my husband has decided I have a definite screw loose somewhere.

My DH doesn't have a clue what I paid for my pair...don't ask, don't tell!

Hi! I am wondering about the leg color in a Golden Lace. Is there a "standard"? Looking at the pics, they are usually hard to see, but seem to go from yellowish to grey to almost green? Just interested, our chicks are "feed store" variety GL and the legs seem to be greenish-gray. Thanks!
