Great! Thanks! Was also wondering at what age some of your roos started crowing? We kinda have a little pool going on in DD's 2nd grade classroom and was wondering if we may hear or otherwise know something by the end of the school year, May 27? The lids were fascinated with the chicks and their little mohawks. It is completely surprising to me how many kids really don't grasp the whole eggs from a chicken thing! Unfortunately I think I may have gotten a whole class of 2nd graders begging their parents for chickens! Well, thanks again!

What you get is a bird that looks very much like a gold laced. There is very little white at all to them. They also have more of the american style "orange" looking color than the good mahogany that the tolbunts should have. We had a conversation about this with someone about a week or so ago and they said that this will return to the mahogany color we want after taking them back to the tolbunts for a few generations. To get tolbunts from these you take the best girls and put them back to your best tolbunt roo. After doing this for about 5 generations you will get back to where you want to be. We've found that the gold laced eggs from our tolbunt pen have a much higher hatch rate. They still occasionally have some issues that are associated with the tolbunts. One had crooked toes and was culled early on, and spraddle leg is more prevalent with them. They also have a lower disease resistance than the rest of our polish.
Sportsterjeep - Hahah, your F1 Gold Laced cross looks identical to one of my accidental Marans x Tolbunt crosses. Amazingly the lacing and even a tiny bit of mottling passed on very well, most likely because of them both sharing the E^R/E^R base. The girls look like Easter Eggers though.
