I would think at 4 months old, a roo would be obvious. There doesn't look like any saddle feathers or spikey hair. I don't know if there's a V comb but I can't see it.

I would like to hear some guesses and why -as well.

I could part with one pair of bantam whites: Frizzle male, smooth female. I have been working on these for a while to get the "buffy" tint out of the feathers. These males are the best so far. $100/pair plus box and shipping. These are high maintenance heavily crested birds whose vision is severely reduced and who need a LOT of care. I will not part with them to anyone not educated about the breed.

A newbie Polish question....I only have a few standard Polish, started out with 6, so had them separate in a crate. Three had large crests but no vision problems yet & 3 had smaller crests. I lost the one with largest crest suddenly. Then next largest crested one acted like it had been injured, wobbly so isolated it & finally after a week of tlc it suddenly worsened & died. Now the third one with the large crest is acting weaker so isolated it & it does well on anti-inflammatories as needed so put it back with the others. Are Polish suseptible to head injuries like Silkies ? These are hatchery origin vaccinated chicks ~ 6 weeks old. They appeared fine until they started "playing & jumping" so am suspecting injury instead of disease as they seem to respond to anti-inflammatories. They are getting fed 20% protein FlockRaiser & starting to eat veggie & fruit treats. Do they need more protein? They have a pop bottle water cup on cage door & cage cup feeder so shouldn't injure themselves on that. I am not sure what I might be doing wrong .....Just wondering if they might be bumping their heads when playing ? ( I have 5 bantam Polish, same age & origin, in cage with assorted breeds & not a single problem with those yet...)
