I have a polish/barred rock cockerel. I’m wondering if I cross him back to a Polish hen(I have buff and WC black) will they create cuckoo chicks?

If you worked with a pure Polish bred to a pure Barred Rock to get your rooster....

You have a rooster with 1 barring gene, so all of his offspring will have a 50% chance of getting a barring gene. 50% will get no barring gene. Both sexes.

Barring will dominate buff, so it should be just a black bird with barring with possible buff bleed through, or for the non-barred simply black with buff bleed through.

I'm not sure how the white crest will impact barring. I should think the barring would show possibly even in the crest? Interesting. For the non-barred chicks, probably black dominant body. I'm not sure how dominant the white crest is. I will step aside to Polish breeders as I've no experience with Polish.

Cuckoo is the barring gene affected by fast feather growth. Fast feather growth with barring gene produces cuckoo. Slow feather growth with barring gene produces crisp bars.

I do not know that Polish are fast feather growth, so unless they are, you have little chance of getting cuckoo.

My thoughts.

(not my photo but my guy looks just like this with a bigger crest and bigger barring/whiter)
