Ok, after 2 years of looking, I can't seem to find out what this bird is that made me fall in love with chickens.
She was featured on the front cover of a book entitled "chickens" authored by Derek Hall. I also saw her on the cover of a Mother Earth News magazine.
Unfortunately I cannot figure out how to attach a pic of her here but here's a link to the book on amazon.
can anyone tell me what she may be or if she is a cross what the breeds would be?

I don't know what she is but she sure is beautiful

I agree, she is the chicken that made me decide after years of thinking about chickens, that I just had to do it. I'd love to find out if she is a breed or just a mutt, if it could be replicated.

It's hard to tell from the pic but she could be a California white. They are primarily white with a few scattered black feathers. I have a couple pullets in my grow pen now. She could also be a splash variety of any number of breeds.

She does look like her color is splash

you could always buy the book if you can't firgure it out, I'm sure it says what breed of chicken is on the cover. Good luck, she's really pretty!

I looked all through that book when I had it, no mention of her..
Oh, well, guess i'll just move along with my own beautiful birds.
thanks every one for your input, and beautiful splash cochin btw!
