My current bantam flock loves my set up.
However, when I used to keep large fowl breeds, they hated being stuck in the coop and run all day. They would loudly complain until it drove us crazy and we would let them out. They eventually got used to being outside all day. My Cochin flock is more like couch potatoes. They don't mind foraging in the yard, but if I leave them in all day, they are just as content and quiet. Even with the run gate open, they still hang out in there.
