It's very early. What breed is it?
I wish I knew, it is a day old. trying to figure out the feather thing. Just hatched last night. I got fertile eggs from a friend with mixed flock so my broody EE could hatch some out. The others are all yellow with light reddish stripes down their back. It has the dot which makes me think boy but it has dark clean legs which I’ve read is girl. The spot is yellowish but has some white ir cream in its down giving it a more grey appearance than jet black.

Okay. I asked because it looks like a barred rock and they are one of the few breeds that can be sexed as chicks. But it sounds like it is probably mixed, so there is just no way of knowing its sex until it grows up. 7 weeks is a good time to try again, unless you see lots of comb and wattle development on any of them before that. Any with that early development are likely to be cockerels. In the meantime, you just have to wait.
