POLL: Wyandottes or Orpingtons? Why?

I'm considering getting another breed of LF and I can't decide between blue Orpingtons or blue Wyandottes. I like Orpingtons because of the straight-comb--they can be sexed earlier--but I kind of like wyandottes too.

So which would you rather have and why?

I'm a fan or Orpingtons & Wyandottes, but the Blue Orps are just more appealing to me. I like Single combs much better than Pea combs. Both are pretty birds!

I like the Orps, got 18 of them. and 5 Wyandottes.

Orpingtons seem fluffier and more elegant and the Prince of Wales has a flock of Buffs so you know Orps are the way to go

even though I don't have any and never have had any...

I've had both and they are equally nice breeds. I still have my orps but sold that color of wyandotte when I was downsizing. My orps as a rule are better layers than my blue wyandottes were.

orps just like the single combs better their coloring to me is richer & more appealing just my opinion

I'd want the Wyandotte only because I always want what I don't have. The Orpington should lay better and it's what we have. Quiet and super docile.

I've seen lots of both at shows, and we have blue Orps. Of the blue variety, I think I'd go with the Orpingtons. Our Orps are just total sweeties - even the roosters you just go in there and pick them up (or heave them up I should say) and they will talk chickie to you while you carry them around the yard.

However, I'm getting some partridge bantam Wyandottes because they are just too beautiful to live without

I like wyandottes better because there are more colors. But that's because I'm a sucker for interesting colors! Both are nice breeds, though. And seeing as you're going for blue either way... Hmmm, I still think I like the wyandottes better. I like their body shape, and they seem a bit less "plain" to me for some reason.
