Pond cleaning

What does everyone use to keep algae down in your pond. I have a good filter but this year the algae is bad. Pond is a good size.

The easiest and cheapest thing todo is make shade for it. If you covered it for a few days in complete darkness it might knock out the algea you already have. Thats how i clear my aquariums anyway
