Ponds: Positive or Negative

We are debating on putting a pond on our land and are wondering if this would be good or bad for our chickens. Anyone who has experience with chickens and ponds we would love to hear your feed back!

I have a pond and my chickens walk right up to it and take a drink. They love it !!

We have a five acre lake, is it dangerous for them to be around it? They are only going to be allowed to free range once they are all "growed up".

I have an acre pond and the chickens really enjoy tadpole & frog season, they will stand in the shallows when it's hot. I do free range everyday, all day.
