Poo eating dog!!!!

The family we adopted her from had her on Purina Little Bites which I think the first ingredient was corn meal. We gradually switched her over to Iams for small breed dogs. If I remember correctly the first ingredien is lamb or beef?

Do NOT feed pineapple everyday - the citrus will tear her up inside - I had a student ask me why his dog hadn't eaten for 3 days - asked him a lot of questions - finally he outed the fact he had been adding pineapple to stop him from eating poo - - read it on the internet - - the dog was smart enough to figure out the pineapple was making him feel lousy so he stopped eating it - - either keep the poo cleaned up or add the powder - it seems to work -

I finally broke mine of eating his own poop, but I'd sure like to hear how to stop him from eating chicken poop! Although I figure if the dog eats chicken poop and I could train the hens to eat dog poop, I could have a real "green" cycle going here.

Even Iams is not a very good quality food. There are many that are much better. You might want to try a grain free food ~ the dog digests it better and there is less poop to clean up later. You can check this site for better ones. http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_food_reviews/index.php/cat/1 Also remember that if you switch foods it could take up to several weeks for the dogs digestive system to become acclimated to the new food.

That being said ~ some dogs just can't be stopped from eating poop short of you being there to clean up every piece of poop as it hits the ground. My sister has 3 pugs and 2 of them are P.E.s and she has tried almost everything and can't stop them!

I have heard of meat tenderizer on a dogs food as a way of getting them to stop eating poop. I have never tried it though.

Oh, if only my dog would eat HER poo, then maybe I could stop it. But NOOOOO, mine likes the cat and chickens poo *sigh* And they way outnumber her too.

I always like it when I read that there are products to add to the animals diet to make the poo yucky so they won't eat it. It makes me want to say, "Um, hello, it's poo! Therefor it already IS yucky!"
