I would just pile it somewhere (away from house
) and turn it occasionally, using a fork or shovel. It needs water to compost properly. You can add blackstrap molasses as a weak solution in water to really make a super compost. Not a bad idea to put black 4 mil plastic over it to keep it moist and hot. Breaks down faster that way. Have to have several piles to know which is oldest and most ready for garden, flower beds, etc. Great for bringing in new grass seed too in lieu of straw. May not hold as well on slope tho. To me, wood chips are the best litter there is, along with sawdust. And they have no pesky seeds when composted with chook poop. I use grass clippings for litter and have had no health issues in 5 months use of them. I do not put that on garden due to fear of seeding garden with God-knows what. I use it to mulch other areas of property needing grass seeded in.
