how much pdz do you guys use per square foot when you use it as the only aspect of the poop boards?

I have just over 40 sq ft of poop board surface to cover. When first covering them, I used about 100 pounds. I maintain them with about 40 pounds a month but my coop is currently maxed out. When the population is lower, I use less.

I have about 10 sq ft of poop boards. I used two of the 'horse stall refresher' version of pdz on it. Have not added more yet. It is about an 1" deep.

I keep it less than ~1/4"...do not want to calculate how much that is in square or cubic feet.
I keep it that low so they don't dust bathe in it....and it's less to sift.

But I may sift differently than most others, I sift all the PDZ daily.

holy cow! That is a ton of information thank you so much!!! And i love the ideas on there! Wish your mesh basket thingamajig, do you use it as a sifter or you use the hoe to scoop it in and the sand / pdz mix sifts through?

I use the hoe to scrape everything into a pile towards front of board, then use the edge of the basket to scoop it up, with the hoe pushing pile into basket as an assist, shake all the PDZ out, then dump poops from the basket into a bucket....repeat until all is sifted.
4-5 repeats for 2x7 board, 3-4 for 2x4 board, takes about 10 minutes.
Then use leveler board to spread the 'cleaned' PDZ back out over the boards.

I hope you noted that the screws are much shorter now...about 3/8".

I put about 1/2 inch on my poop trays. Easy to scoop using a reptile scoop.
