I have a girl who has been having soft / no shell eggs, HUGE eggs, no eggs over the last month and she’s bee. Pretty poorly today. This is the first time I’ve seen poop like this and she’s sleeping in the back of the run. Totally unlike herself

She expelled eggs that had broken in her but she might have had more … she eats tuna and black soldier fly larvae but not much else right now nd is also dropping feathers. She is usually quite long looking but she’s been accordioned up since last night.

Are you feeding a balanced layer feed or providing crushed oyster shell for extra calcium? It sounds like she is experiencing a problem with her oviduct which could lead to a reproductive infection and egg yolk peritonitis. Salpingitis is common, and sometimes they may have a defective shell gland. I would put her on a human calcium citrate with vitamin D tablet once daily for up to 7 days. Just open her beak and put it in. This one would work, and use 300-600 mg of calcium:

I’ve had her on calcium +d3 for 3 days now. Exact brand. They are on nutrena layer feed and free oyster shell.

I noticed her eggs were getting bigger and bigger then they just starts to be soft shelled. Then she went from one to the other and now this. In
Thinking about getting baytril from Jedds but I don’t want to dose without being sure… farm vet recommended tums and
Melaxocam. I started the melaxocam today.

She laid this in the coop overnight (left hand corner)

Thin shelled egg. It was twisted up but I’m not sure if that’s because the other girls got to it.

And the feather drop. Not sure if it’s from illness or if she feels like crap because she’s molting or what — one of my girls molted for the first time last year and I thought she was dying (this flock is 1.5 years old)
