does anyone think its possible to pick up chicken poop with a horse poop fork? i kno the bedding i use will fall rite through but the poop looks big enough to not fall through...help!!! im trying to save as much litter as possible without using the deeplitter method........HELP!!!!!!

Is their smaller horse poop forks maybe you could find one? I don't use litter except for inside the boxes and then just scrape the poo out everyday as long as you keep up with it its fine. You could try using some vinyl flooring (Linolium) its alot easier to clean.

I have straw and my manure fork picks the poop up along with the straw it is stuck to. Great to the compost. But you might try one of those "pooper scoopers" they sell at the pet stores.

I use a plastic manure fork, the small size. It's a lot easier to pick out a stall than it is to pick out a coop. Shavings inevitably wind up in the bucket. I just can't sift out the shavings and keep the poop on the fork.

I was wondering this same thing, maybe one of us should invent something that will work!

Since much of the poo is the same caliber, ish, as the shavings that most people use, I don't think you're going to have a lot of luck there. If it is a small coop with few chickens and you are really motivated, frankly a gloved hand would probably be the most effective option.

One thing that helps a LOT, though, is a droppings board (or droppings pit, or any other collection device) underneath the roost. That will intercept about 50% of the poo RIGHT THERE.

Good luck, have fun,

Pat
