Poop in nest box

I have 2 6 month pullets and two nesting boxes. One box is being pooped in and sometimes an egg is laid in there too! How do I prevent them from pooping in the nest box? Thanks for your advice.

Are the roosts higher than the nest boxes? Birds like to roost at the highest point possible. If that is the nest box, they will roost and poop there.

.....are they roosting(sleeping) in the nests at night?

Do not let them, remove them from nests after dark and place them on the roost.
Might have to do it every night fora several nights, eventually they will get the idea.
