Hi
I have 3 hens that are broody but one has a whole lot of poop on her eggs which are really smelly. She is sitting for about 2 and a half weeks now and I candled them most of them look like they developing well but I just wanted to know why does one have a whole lot of poop on her eggs and the other 2 hens don't.Another thing I wanted to know was I sometimes see eggs on the side of her so I just push them back in will those eggs hatch or not

everybody has good solid days and more loose days of going to the bathroom i guess .. theyll toss solid pieces out .. you can control some of that with what your feeding them .. for example, if its nothing but crumbles its gonna tend to be loose and messy ..

Broody poop is terrible.

Usually a broody will not poop in her nest or on the eggs, but sometimes there can be an accident.

Are you certain she's getting off the nest daily to eat/drink?
Have you looked her over for lice/mites?
How is she housed - she has room to move off the nest right?

How many eggs does she have and what's your weather like? I don't normally push eggs back under a broody. She takes care of all that herself. If she's got a lot more eggs than she can cover then that would be an issue.

How bad is the nest? If it's extremely soiled, does she have a lot poop stuck to her feathers underneath her too? I'm not one to mess with broodies, but it may be a good idea to take her out of the nest, inspect her well, clean her off if needed and give her some fresh bedding. As for poop on the eggs, hard to know if you need to wipe them off with a dry cloth or not - they are what - 16 days?

It's now day 18 I think she ate one egg that got rotten and cracked because I looked under her and saw a cracked egg and then her mouth was messy but she's the only one like that the other two are looking fine she had worms in her poop also.I did see all of them come out one day to eat and drink

What type of worms? Round worms or could it have been maggots?
Were they in the poop that was in the nest or you saw them in the run?

Photos?

I would take her up and inspect her really well to make sure she has no maggots around her vent and that she's not badly soiled.

Again, I'm not one to mess with my broodies very much, but giving yours a going over seems the thing to do.

The eggs were rotten and stinky and she doesn't have any worms but the other day she did have
I broke her eggs just to make sure they were bad and they were bad

Sorry to hear the eggs were bad.

Hopefully you've gotten the nest cleaned up and all yuckiness disposed of.

If she was sitting in the nest, then it would be wise to gather up this hen, inspect her vent and underneath her. If she's soiled then giving her a clean up is a good idea.

If she's pooping and there's worms in the poop, then she needs to be dewormed. Get photos of her poop and the worms.
