Oh I understand I try an clean mine up before giving them away but only my chicken eggs look really nice. I’ve never given mine as a gift though.
Probably.....I can appreciate that - it's just an uphill battle, IMO.![]()
It’s probably a hound thing....Chickens are just a little more fastidious in their hygiene. But I figure if I am giving my eggs away there shouldn’t be any complaints right. Beagles are stubborn? I have Dachshunds and boy they sure can be.
I haven’t, and I think it’s a great idea. I think I might try that. Maybe if they think I’m not stealing all the eggs, they won’t poop on themHave you ever tried dummy eggs? I've found them to be really helpful for getting my ducks to lay in one spot I can find. I put 1-2 in a clean corner - away from the sleeping/pooping corner and they lay all their eggs with the dummy eggs.
I still get messy eggs occasionally, but it is so much better.
I don't think she knows that you find poop stains icky and is doing it for that reason. I think nature just gives them an instinct to poop on the eggs to camouflage them or to repel predators because that might make them taste bad - though they don't really know that, either. It's just their nature. I don't think you should take it personally.
I love this reply. I actually had a similar thought, she was trying to camouflage. Don’t worry I only take it personally because it’s fun
