Poop stuck to back of my 6 day old chick!!!

Thank You everyone. I took a close look and I now know what a vent is and where it is located. The poop was below the vent stuck to the fur. Everything is fine now. I've calmed down thanks for the quick responses.

You shouldn't yank, you could tear their skin...plus you kinda want them to not fear being handled.

My daughter hatches eggs and sells chicks to make some money for herself. We have had literally hundreds of chicks around here. I have done it both ways. The chicks do prefer the 5 second permanent fix to being handled for 10 or more minutes while someone is playing with their backsides just for the possibility of having to do it all over again in a few days. I have never had a chick with so much as a red spot let alone torn skin.

Also, in my experience, its much more traumatizing to chicks to have someone come over the top of them, grab them around their back, and lift them up. It's instinct for them to avoid that from happening because its usually predatory birds that snatch them away at that age. Keep your hands around them or under them and they become much less worried about human hands. The chicks we keep we teach step up to, like a parrot. Unfortunately there are times that you need to pick them up but the less they are handled that way the less afraid of you they will be.

I always soak their butts in warm water and GENTLY remove the poop. If is still too hard to remove, I continue to soak, soak, soak in warm water. I take my time in removing the poop. I never pull the poop off of them in fear of hurting and injuring them and then you end up with yet another problem.
