I've just noticed that the poop of some of my chicks is watery like. Their poop is supposed to be solid and firm. Is it due to dehydration?

My chicks are a little over a week old and they have watery poop too.

Chickens pass what is called a cecal poop, which smells and is more liquidy..they pass this kind of poop each day (maybe several times per day?). Another think to look at: sometimes if the brooder is too hot, they will have watery poop from trying to drink to stay cool. Check your temp in the brooder and see how they are acting otherwise. If all else is normal, then I would worry less.

Here is a link to "the poop site" that shows graphic pics of chicken poop:

Chickens don't pee! So sometimes their poo is more watery than not, because they are passing out some of the water they drank that would otherwise be urine...
