I came home from school and went to check on the rooster and the hen that live in the garage only to find my silkie hen looking weak and not really moving. Then I saw blood in the bottom of the cage. I can't get her to eat or drink anything. I did some research and figured it might be Coccidiosis. I did put them outside a few days ago, but it was just thawing out from being frozen from winter. I'm thinking of going ahead and treating her with Corid, but I'm worried that if that's not what she has, it could harm her. My hen is about four years old and seemed healthy up until today. The rooster seems perfectly fine.

Update: I settled her into a cage in the house, and she's starting to drink, but she still seems very weak. She is moving her head and neck now at least, but that's all.

How much does she weigh? Can you take her to a vet? Since she isn't drinking, get some Corid powder, mix 1/2 teaspoon with 2 teaspoons water and give 0.07 ml per 100 grams orally. Also mix 1/2 teaspoon per quart and hope she starts drinking on her own. If she does not start drinking on her own you will need to tube feed fluids.

I just got her to start drinking, thank goodness. I couldn't tell you for sure how much she weighs, I'll have to put her on a scale as soon as I get the chance. I wish I could take her to the vet, but I don't have the money to pay for it myself and there's no way my parents would agree to it. Another thing about the hen is she never lays eggs. She laid consistently for a year or so, but then slowed down and eventually stopped altogether I think around the time I got my rooster. I have found maybe two or three eggs in the past couple of years from her, and none had good shells or had been broken. Could this have something to do with that?
