Hello everyone,
I have an 11 month old silkie. Yesterday I noticed she was acting a little lethargic. She was just sitting on the lawn in front of the door and when I would walk up to her she would get up and move a little but not far. She let me just stroke her back, she has always been more friendly but not like this. She was just complacent. I let the chickens out of the coop this morning and she walked by me then pooped out a bunch of yolk. I searched the internet and came up with a ton of conflicting information. We do not have a vet that specializes in poultry near me, the closest one is an hour and a half away. I called UC Davis and then a bird specialty vet, they recommended separating her. So now she's in a small coop in the garage with food and water with electrolytes. The vet said to not explore her vent for the rest of her egg. They said surgery which we cannot afford. Does anyone have any experience with this? Is there a chance she could pass it all out of her naturally? She ate mealworms earlier and drank water.

How is she doing?

Any chance you got photos of what she expelled? Current poop photos may help.

Sometimes a membrane may break and egg material spills into the oviduct. This can cause infection. If she's lethargic or acting like she's not feeling well you could try Amoxicillin or Baytril to see if that helps.
Do what you can to keep her eating/drinking.
