Poopy bum

stress, being cold, being too hot, bacterial infections, improper diet, etc I have seen that it is more common with runt chicks because I had 2 runt chicks ( separate batches ) and both of them had pasty while the others didn't if you need to know how to clean up pasty butt let me know and i can help you

if you want to prevent pasty butt your brooder temperature needs to be correct, adding probiotics to their water, and do NOT give chicks treats until at least 5 weeks old and when you do give them treats give them grit as well. Know when you are trying to clean pasty butt I would get a paper towel and put it in warm water and gently hold the chick and with your towel and fingers wipe the butt and gently try massage the poop off but if it doesn't come off then get a bowl off warm water and dip its butt in there for 15 seconds and then try to wipe and massage it off.
