My 8mo SS hen is being treated for watery poo...but it has caked up on her feathers under her vent. I've tried warm paper towels but it is like cement! It's still too chilly to give her a warm bath to soften it up...any suggestions?

if she'll let you hold her on her back , I just did this with some new Brahma hens I just got. they had poppy feathers, I trimmed real good all away around the vent so that the poop wouldn't stick as bad.. The laid on their backs and that way I could see good and not cut their skin or too close..

Is it ok to cut their feathers? If I do a bath and blowdry her, won't the hairdryer scare her to death?

Edited to add...what do you bath them in? I love her but I reeeeeeally don't want chicken poo in my bathtub. My hubby would KILL me!
